Gorgeous vintage Japanese clear lucite beads from the late 1970's known as tensha beads. These beads are adorned with intricate floral decals and gold or foil accents on an acrylic base.
We purchased these beads in London during one of our first buying trips there but they had in fact been imported from Japan.

*Please note: There's a lot of ' new ' tensha beads being manufactured currently in Japan so be sure of what you're purchasing. These are indeed vintage tensha from the 1970's which we 100% guarantee and not new tensha being exported from Japan and sold online in a number of places! There's a HUGE difference in the quality of the workmanship between these old vintage beads and the new ones being mass produced**

The roses on these beads are a deep golden yellow with a darker edge . The daises are white with rosey centers and seem to float within these lightweight Japanese acrylic beads which have a CLEAR background. These beads are in excellent condition and similar to another bead I have listed in my shop where the roses are basically white as well as beads that have reddish/pink roses on a black background.

Price is for 2 of these 16mm vintage beads ( they're a wonderful substantial size measuring about 3/4" across - i.e. 25mm = 1 " ) and I 100% guarantee these to be vintage Japanese beads from the 1970's - the workmanship is wonderful unlike many of the 'newer tensha ' beads being made today trying to copy these older patterns.

These are truly unique - I have never seen anyone else selling anything like these and you will never see anything like this in your local 'gem show or neighborhood bead shop.

I sold many tensha beads such as these through the Smithsonian Institution's museum shop and mail order catalog during the 1980's and they were also featured in trunk shows at Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue during this same time period.
