This single bookend from the Judd company and features a raised design of a lion. The company produced cast bronze and iron bookends from 1910 to the 1930s. This one has a strong Arts & Crafts influence. I think this is cast iron with a bronze-like finish and dark mottled green accents. The number on back is 9734. The bookend is heavy and very handsome. It is heavy enough to stand well and provide support for books on its own. It is 5-5/8“ to the top, a little over 6“ across the bottom, and about 2-¼“ from front to back at the bottom.
There is some wear to the finish, the green accents, and some general darkening to metal, as well as spots of light rust on the top of the base. The green felt on the bottom/underside has a bit of wear. The back of the bookend has a very slight wobble - the screws on back might need a little tightening though everything really seems sturdy just as it is.
