Wearable with minor repairs, or for restoration, display, collection...or rework.

Vintage or antique, rather, circa 1920s ethereal Beaded Art Deco drop waist dress in a sage green silk chiffon with black/charcoal colored beading. The beading has the patina of tarnished silver. Requires some minor repairs, which I will describe shortly.

The dress is shown on a 33-24-34 five ft 9 inch model, but the inner bodice should fit up to a 36 without being snug. I believe the numerous snaps allow for some adjustment. Long tapered angel sleeves, dropped waist or hip sash with four vertical skirt length panels, two on the front hip and two on the back. Numerous snaps up the center of the left side and along the left shoulder. Deco beading is a lattice and floral design front and back of the bodice and around the skirt.

Condition: The fabric appears to be strong and all beading present and snug. With repairs, it is certainly wearable. Repairs required on the following stress areas. The shoulder with snaps has a tear and a couple of missing snaps at the seam (last photo). The other shoulder has lost a few stitches at the shoulder seam but has no tear. One or two of the snaps on the side require repair. The snaps are snapped together, but one side has come unstitched. Along the dropped waist under the sash, there are a couple of places where a few stitches need to be added. Just a couple of small openings at the seam, but not torn and about an inch or less. No tears in the body of the dress and the fabric is not disintegrating or dry. There are some light brownish spots here and there. This hasn't been cleaned. If you are not attune with cleaning antique fabrics/dresses, I recommend a professional. Comparatively, this particular dress is in much better condition than most. Normally the weight of the beadings coupleed with wear turn these dresses into tatters, or unwearable studies or displays. This one has held up quite well.

Size: I haven't measured the dress. Based upon dressing the model, it is about a 34-36-ish (inner bodice) but appears to be adjustable with numerous snaps. The dropped waist or hip sash might make it to 36. There's a little room on the 34 hip model, but not much. Length from shoulder to hem is approximately 48-50 inches.

I do have more photos. I'm offering at a much more affordable price than other 20s beaded dresses. Though I would love to keep it, the sooner it gets to someone who will use it, the better. And, listing it for 1000-2000 just seems pointless unless it is fully restored.

International customers. This dress is heavy due to the extensive beading. If I have overestimated the shipping charges, I will provide a refund.

Please drop me a note if any questions!
