This bottle gourd has been hand finished with natural stains and sealed inside and out with beeswax. It has a black cotton cord tied with traditional Chinese knot work.

The kanji for the 3 treasures of quigong- Jing, Qi and Shen or Essence, Vitality and Spirit- is hand pyrographed into the gourd shell. Only natural materials and methods were used in the creation of this bottle. As such it would qualify for use in reenactment. This hulu is 10 inches tall and a little over 6 inches wide.

Hulu were often seen in the hands of Chinese immortals and monks. They were said to hold the elixir of immortality and thus were a favored vessel for restorative medicines.

This gourd is completely usable however it should never be used with a hot beverage or expose it to other overly warm temperatures. And under no circumstances should it be put in the dishwasher. When not in use allow to air dry completely.
