zipper pouch made from vintage linen grain sacks with vintage Red Cross patch from Europe (no.2)
- - - - - -
I decided to use some of the fabulous grain sacks I found during my travels in the Netherlands to create this little zippered pouch.

The front has a vintage Red Cross patch that I found at an antique fair in Utrecht, NL.

This small size is perfect to hold odds and ends that collect in your purse, use as a wallet pouch or even carry your smart phone – or use it as a First Aid Kit pouch for in your purse or car!

The fabric and patch have both been washed thoroughly prior to sewing but there are a few spots in the linen that refused to come out (barely noticeable, front lower left and back lower right). Please note that this is a flaw inherent in working with old linens and part of what gives upcycled pieces like this such great character and charm :)

Size: 6.5" x 5.5", lined with striped fabric (new)

NOTE: the Red Cross appliqué is a bit frayed on the right side so you may need to occasionally snip off threads as they work themselves loose (I think this patch was part of a ribbon of red crosses, maybe used to stitch around a jacket sleeve).
