12/2 laceweight yarn; 60% merino 20% cashmere, 20% silk

Gryffin is a heavy laceweight/light fingering designed for lace, but can be used for baby items, gloves, scarves, or any other item that would be appealing in a plush, lightweight yarn. I don't recommend it for socks, as it is two-ply, with a medium twist.

Soft, silky, and springy, Gryffin is luscious to work with, and won't become limp after blocking.

Gryffin fur is difficult to obtain, but we were lucky to find a supplier in the suburbs of Shangri La. The Singing Armadillo Frog Sanctuary, which farms musical armadillos (for sale or rent!) and amphibian frog hair, is also home to a flock of gryffins (called a Crnagorka), due primarily to their predilection for this particular dance. The fiber is harvested by collecting it from Aquaggaswack trees, against which the gryffins rub during shedding season.
