Short Story Long:
Yes, you read that correctly. This rug is woven out of a mixture of cotton, wool and GOAT hair. It gives almost a shaggy texture to the pile. Where you can really see and feel the goat hair is in the fringe where it is spun with cotton to make the foundation of the rug and also in the little tufts in the binding. This piece was made by the Balouch tribespeople of Balouchistan which is the area where Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan meet.
The tiny little pops of orangey-yellow in this rug are indicative of the 1970s. This rug was woven during that time, but it is timeless in its rugged, geometric design. This rug would hold up very well in a foyer or hallway, but could also work in your den or study. It has a strong, manly feel to it, so you might want to buy a smoking jacket to wear while you walk on it.
