This is an illustration of a Manel tree (probably a species of Lansium) from the Island of Timor in South East Asia. This vintage botanical print is a facsimile of an illustration from a manuscript about the flora of Timor. The originals, watercolor illustrations on rice paper, were drawn by a Portuguese priest in the 18th century and are held in an archive in Lisbon.

This facsimile was published by the archive in 1969 and I understand that it is the only existing reproduction of these drawings.

Size: approx. 10" by 13.5"

In excellent condition.

This is the actual page from a 1969 book, not a reproduction.
