This scarf; made from my own clamp resist dyed silk, blends soft hyacinth purple into deeper rich purple with floating butterfly like shapes in soft rose and cyan blue. The silk crepe de chine has a lovely pearly sheen and is so soft and light to wear.

Almost 30 years ago, after I graduated from art college, I had a business dying silk and making clothing and scarves. I've held on to these beautiful fabrics, packed safely away, and am so happy to finally create something new with them and pass them on to be enjoyed by others!

I have left the edges of the scarf purposefully and neatly frayed. In a fabric as fine and densely woven as this, the threads don't continue fraying, but the narrow 'fringe' creates a nice soft natural looking edge. The two pieces are joined in an overlapped, flat seam with decorative stitching, forming a circle for easy wear.

Size: 60" long x 8" wide. and looks great when worn doubled as in the photos.

***Silk is a strong animal fibre and is tougher than you may think. You can hand wash with a bit of detergent, rinse, wring out, hang to dry and a hot steam iron won't hurt it. If you have any questions about care etc, please feel free to convo me.
