Short Story Long:
This piece was made by the Balouch tribespeople of Balouchistan which is the area where Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan meet. The weave of this piece is very tight for a tribal piece and the pile is cut short (not from wear, but from when it was sheared during production). We obtained this rug in the 1980s through a customer trade-in, so it is a used rug, but you'd never know that if I didn't tell you.
Why this little rug has been a wall-flower in our store, I will never know. I think it has great quality for a real rug collector, and also a lovely patina for the more decor-oriented buyer. The colors are warm and inviting. This rug would hold up very well in a foyer or hallway because it is entirely made of wool. With proper care, it will last for generations.
