ITEM: Antique Chinese, double-sided charm earrings. These wonderful, figural charms were transfIgured into contemporary earrings by California artist, Laurel Burch, in the 1980's.

CONDITION: Very good overall - the charms are quite old and have developed a nice, mellow patina. One of the tube beads has a small flaw in the back but does not detract from the appearance. The sterling silver ear wires are fine. Earrings have been very lightly buffed with a polishing cloth to bring out the details of the charms but not to diminish the richness of the patina.

DATE: Charms date 1800-1900; transformed into earrings in late 1970's or early 1980's.

SIZE: Charms are approximately 1" long. From top of ear wire to to bottom of charm is approximately 2".

Additional Information: I had several of Laurel Burch's pieces in my first antique shop, which opened in 1980. A little about Laurel Burch - An early San Francisco Flower Child, she had an amazing career and life story. She did some beautiful, Asian-inspired jewelry during this period, incorporating many of the lovely, antique pieces from China. If you would like to know more about this unique artist. go to YOUTUBE.
