Never have I come across a locket as unique as this lovely little Art Deco one. It reminds me of something the little mermaid would wear, so I have labeled it "The Mermaid Locket."

Overall, as you can see from the pictures, it is in great condition, with an old machine-tooled back. It is marked "LaMode," and "1/20 12K G.F." inside. (Its only flaw is a bit of some sort of film (not tarnish, and not something noticeable unless you are looking closely) between the lines in the design. I was able to get most of it off, but not all of it. You can sort of see it in the second picture. There is also a tiny spot of pinkish metal down by the bottom, but again, not really noticeable). It still retains both metal photo holders and both plastic covers. According to my research, LaMode was a French company that made guilloche enamel compacts and lockets, as well as gold filled lockets. Most of their pieces that I have seen date to the 1920-1940's. There is a possibility that this locket was actually originally a compact necklace for powder or rouge, but I am not 100% sure. It opens and closes well and securely, and has a pinkish sheen to the metal, which is why I am labeling it as rose gold filled.

The locket measures about 15/16 of an inch in diameter, and I have added a new 18" long gold fill chain that matches nicely.

*If this is a gift for someone special and you need a pretty silky gift pouch, please leave a note at checkout for me. They are complimentary and I'll include one in your package for each locket you need.

**If you purchase more than one locket at a time, the you pay shipping for the first locket, and any additional you purchase are shipped free :)

Buy with confidence, I value both my customers and my lockets, and if you are not happy I gladly accept returns and exchanges. The lockets I sell are old and sentimental, and each person needs the right match.
