Trivia!!!!!
Chatelaine is a French word meaning female owner, or wife of the owner, of a large home. They were worn as belt hooks by well-to-do ladies of the house. The chains that hung from the chatelaine were to hold useful household items the lady might need such as scissors, keys, thimbles, etc. Chatelaines were also used in the 19th century by housekeepers who needed such items handy in their work.
