Viking Art Glass - Saint Francis of Assisi

A heavy piece of molded art glass. This piece has an overall gothic stained glass window shape, which is a pointed arch shape. The figure is of St. Francis of Assisi with several birds. St. Francis is both a Catholic and an Anglican saint and is one of the two patron saints of Italy. Born in 1182, St. Francis is known for blessing and preaching to the animals. He also founded the Franciscan order.

This lovely piece was created by Viking Glass, known for their quality. The figure has been recessed from the back side, giving it a 3 dimensional look from the front. It could be used as a paperweight or used for display on a shelf, table or window sill.

Condition: The label is still on the front and readable--but is pulling in a little on the outside edges. There are a couple of tiny flaws on the back that look like bubbles that may have burst. I also see some very, very small scratches. Really a lovely object in very nice condition.

Size: approx. 7” high, 3-½” wide, 1-½” thick
