Description

Beautiful old Father Christmas/Santa head glass ornament. This vintage glass Father Christmas measures 4 inches tall which is generally the largest of this type of ornament. The cap doesn't say the country of origin, but these were most often produced in Germany. This large sized figural glass head is rated a 3 on the rarity scale of 1 to 5, meaning it is classified as scarce. I am also unsure of his exact age, but these ornaments were known to be made prior to the 1940s and then reproduced from antique molds into the 1940s and 1950s. So I placed him in the 1950s. He is refered to as a Father Christmas head because his hood type cap comes all the way down the back of his head. (Generally, Santa heads have a cap with hair showing in the back.)

This Father Christmas head has some issues with his blue eyes. As you can see in the photos they are partially missing. His face is, otherwise, quite beautiful. His red hood has some areas of red paint loss and the bottom of this ornament has some age spotting. This Father Christmas is not perfect, but still quite nice.

Enjoy this beautiful ornament on your holiday tree or give him away as a unique gift.

Shipping policies

Items will be shipped within 3 business days of confirmation of payment.

I ship to your Etsy supplied address. Please be sure yours is correct. Packages returned because of an error in the supplied address will either be reshipped at your expense, or refunded minus the original shipping costs.

Shipping will be done primarely by USPS Priority Mail. (Items that are small enough to qualify AND ship safely by USPS first class mail will have that option as well.) The shipping prices listed include handling and 3rd party insurance.

Vintage Christmas ornaments are often fragile. Certain items may be double boxed. There will be bubble and/or foam wrapping and the use of paper cushioning and/or those dreaded packing peanuts. Please realize these are a necessity for certain shipments, but I strive to re-use clean packing materials and/or buy biodegradable (made of corn starch, dissolve in water) packing peanuts when necessary.

International buyers:
International shipments will be made by USPS 1st Class Mail International Package plus 3rd party insurance. Certain sized items and possible combined shipments will be of the size where they will need to be shipped by Priority Mail International service.

International shipping times:
USPS 1st Class Mail International Package service makes no guarantees as to shipping arrival times. So far, my experience has been 2 - 3 weeks, but It can take up to 6 weeks (and sometimes beyond) to some countries.

Customs:
Any VAT/duty/tax, required upon package arrival, is the responsibility of the customer. Etsy has recently added information to listings that says "VAT is included in the price (where applicable.)" Be aware that "where applicable" means shops that are VAT registered to collect and remit VAT. This does not apply to This That and Christmas. VAT is not included in the item prices of this shop and will still be your responsibility. Please be aware it is unlawful for me to falsify dollar amounts or mark your purchase as a "gift" in order to avoid duty charges. Delays in customs are beyond the control of the USPS and This That and Christmas.

A note on shipping costs:
I use 'calculated shipping' on Etsy. This means that shipping costs are determined by your location and the weights and measurements of the items you purchase. Usually this system is pretty accurate, but on occasion will combine purchases in a way that is more expensive than need be. Be assured that excess charges (after postage, packaging costs and insurance) will be refunded.
