In the early 1970s the American Oil Comapany created a Sweepstakes entitled "Hats Off To The Past". There were 38 different cards given out at gas stations with the purchase of gasoline. The top part of the cards described the 3 big prizes as following: "Model A" Ford - a replica of that great car!; Player Piano - and what fun you'll have!; Gasoline Awards! You would then choose one of the hats to erase the silver spot, revealing your possible prize and then fill out the information on back and deposit it into the entry box.

The bottom portion of the card paid a tribute to political campaigns of the past with a special campaign button and a small blurb about that specific campaign. (Campaign buttons were first used in 1896.) These 1972 reproduction buttons are quite charming.

This listing is for a single campaign button, but may not be for the exact one pictured. The condition of these cards/buttons varies from fair to great condition (with the best going out first). Some may have rust on the pin, rust stains on the paper, some bends or bent corners, or scratches on button.

Here is a list of the single Campaign buttons available. Upon purchasing please specify which button you would like, by adding a note to seller or sending a conversation. If you need a picture of one not shown please contact us.
