This is a beautiful and unusual small antique stoneware vase created during the Arts and Crafts movement.

The design of the vase is unlike anything we have ever seen before. The surface of the vase has been hand formed with distinct raised points or quills, stud-like that resembles a sea urchin or other aquatic creature. This appearance gives this piece a very Asian feel. This would be a beautiful display piece in a beach house.

The sides of the vase have been slightly fluted and are glazed smooth. The sides by contrast to the front and back look very Art Nouveau in their lines. This contrast looks very fresh and original and entices one to hold the vase, its texture feels wonderful to the touch.

The natural sandy stoneware has been glazed in shades of an earthy celadon green, aqua and a rich wine iron oxide color that gradiate in a very organic and pleasing way.
