Vintage Art Deco Teapot in Leigh Ware's curvy Ultra Moderne shape, of luscious creamy beige Umbertone clay, 1930s Mayfair pattern: perky orange & black flower decal on each side, ribbed handle with racing stripe, polka dots, and thick, rich, silvery platinum…finial sports a bright orange cap and platinum outlines to accent its absolute fabulousness!

Please Note: we have more Mayfair pieces to list, mostly in the squarish Ultra shape, including some ultra rare 2-handled cups with matching saucers; please inquire if you're seeking something in particular.

Teapot is in excellent vintage condition - general crazing overall, extremely light wear to the platinum, some speckling on the lid - but no chips, cracks, repairs, etc. Inside is very clean.

Leigh Pottery, one of several potteries owned by Alliance Ohio’s Sebring family, only produced from 1929, when they bought Crescent China, until 1934, when the Depression reduced demand for their innovative, futuristic wares. The unusual beige Umbertone (perfected by Joseph Palin Thorley, formerly of Wedgwood) derives its color from the clay body itself; it's merely covered in a thin clear overglaze, so its rich, earthy tint provides a lovely base against which the decorative colors really pop and glow.

:: Care & Handling ::
As with any china with metallic embellishments, this should not be used in microwaves, and we strongly recommend hand washing. Where there is surface crazing, avoid staining by restricting contact with acidic or deeply colored liquids & foods (strong coffee, beets, etc).

PLEASE NOTE: Vintage and antique dishes were often decorated with glazes containing varying amounts of toxic substances, like lead or cadmium. If you have a concern, please research before purchasing. To minimize exposure to these substances when using vintage dinnerware, please observe the following precautions: use infrequently; do not expose to high heat, including microwaves, ovens, and dishwashers; avoid contact with acidic foods & liquids, especially if cracked or crazed (slight crackling of the clear overglaze); do not use to store food or liquids; hand wash with a gentle detergent soon after use and allow to air dry.

INTERNATIONAL SELLERS: We love to ship globally; please provide your address for an accurate quote of shipping costs. You must determine your own local customs fees or import taxes, if applicable.
