This listing is for an extraordinary facsimile of a drawing a two fishes from Maranhao (Brazil): Camorim and Guarapecu. The original illustration was drawn by Frei Cristovao de Lisboa during his stay in Brazil (1625-1631) and was part of the manuscript "Historia dos animais e árvores de Maranhao" that is held in an archive in Portugal.

This facsimile print is from the 1967 portuguese edition. The original is drawing in pencil and covered in ink. The print reproduces the drawing exactly as it was in 1967, borders are uneven and paper shows its age with a creamy patina.

A facsimile is a copy or reproduction of an old book or manuscript or other item of historical value that is as true to the original source as possible. It differs from other forms of reproduction by attempting to replicate the source as accurately as possible in terms of scale, color, condition, and other material qualities.

Size: approx. 9" by 12"

In excellent condition. Printed on thick paper.

This is the actual page from a 1967 book, not a reproduction.

Sent to you in a flat envelope protected with a cello sleeve and cardboard.
