Vintage fun mid century Greek Travel Souvenir art pottery wall hanging. This ancient Greek neoclassical pottery hand painted art plate, made from terra cotta in Fintias, Greece depicts the battle between Enkelados (Enceladus) and Athena. Enceladus a Titan, who according to one theory in Greek Mythology was killed by the chariot of Athena in the battle between the Titans and the Olympian gods.

The ancient Greek themed pottery plate measures 10 1/2 inches in diameter, is hand painted in black with a classic white Greek Key design border and at the center is raised relief figure of Enkelados being crushed beneath the chariot horses of Athena.

As you can see there is black paint loss giving it the wonderful shabby look; there are NO Chips and NO Cracks. It is a wonderful man cave piece of mid century tourist/travel collectible art pottery from Greece and sure to please; perfect for the mythology geek in your life!

A literal translation from the Greek wording on the back of the plate:

Monomaxia = Duel
ΑΘΗΝΑΣ = Athena
ΕΓΚΕΛΑΔΟΥ = Enceladus aka Enkelados
