Cool Lagoon is a one of a kind pack of silk hankies. While I was making hanky packs for Carolina Fiber Fest, my husband asked me if I needed any help. I said sure, start putting hankies together. This is one his, and he used some Beach Glass colors blended with leftover dyes for this soothing group that makes me long for a shady beach and Pina Colada. This group contains 2 different semisolid grassy greens, 2 different semisolid turquoises, and 1 semisolid marine blue.

Alas that photography can never truly capture the subtleties of light and color that you see in silk!

A silk hanky, also known as a mawata, is a stack of silk cocoons which have been degummed and stretched over a square frame. Each hankie is made of several cocoons, usually about a dozen, but sometimes you'll find one that has more or less.

You pull the cocoon layers apart and stretch them to either knit with them as is or spin them. You may remember the Yarn Harlot knitted mittens from hankies in January 2011.

Each hanky is one of a kind, usually dyed with leftover dyes. After they are dry, I take the whole lot of them to mix and match them into fun groups of colors.

Cool Lagoon is approximately 1.5 ounces.

Hand wash in cool water and dry flat.

While I've taken care to make this color as close to real life as possible, please remember each monitor shows colors just a little differently. What you see on your monitor may differ from the actuality.

Yarn comes from a smoke free, pet friendly environment.
