About

This is a truly lovely, genuine, original antique silver colored metal Jugendstil (Art Nouveau / Belle Epoque) style German wedding tiara, from 1942. The exact date is known because this item comes in the original store box and has the date written on it.

It is intricately made from unstamped silver colored metal. I believe it might be silver plate, but this metal has not been tested. The diameter of this little tiara is approximately 3.5 ". There is quite a lot of give for different sized heads. It is approximately 3.7" high. The tiara appears tiny, almost as though for a child, but when placed on the head of a grown woman it looks perfect, sitting above the crown so merrily or it is also truly lovely when when at the front of the head, at the top of the forehead. The adorable groom's corsage is 2.7"

The flowers are myrtle flowers, long associated with the Greek goddess Aphrodite, love and immortality. It is also the Hebrew symbol of marriage. Garlands of myrtle flowers have been worn in weddings at least since ancient Roman times. Popular in the medieval era, the Victorians really loved the myrtle flower and also loved to wear garlands of myrtle at their weddings. The Art Nouveau movement, still referenced in 1942 in this nostalgic item, embraced the myrtle flower. The Art Nouveau movement in turn was referencing Grecian Goddesses.

This is something truly beautiful and rare, suitable for a rare wedding. It reminds me of something an Elven Princess and her Prince would wear. This is an heirloom to keep and treasure in the family for generations to come.

The piece has been professionally cleaned by a jeweler and appears in perfect condition with just a few very unnoticeable places where the plating has worn off. It will be sent by registered mail, with a tracking number.
