These colorful, fun looking earrings are made from upcycled Bubble Up soda bottle caps. I think of them as literal 'pop art'-being both an example of the pop art movement, (using things such as found objects and advertising), as well as being made from pop (soda) bottle caps. The white beads echo the bubbles printed on the caps, while the red accent beads coordinate with the red print "Bubble Up". These caps were rescued from a hot dog stand, and had dents in them from being opened. I have hammered them out, but they are still slightly visible. To me this is just part of the process of upcycling.

Earrings measure approximately 2+38" from top of ear wire to bottom of center bead. Hypoallergenic surgical stainless ear wires.

I design my bottle cap jewelry with a theme and color scheme in mind. I like using the printed side of the cap as part of my overall design, as it calls attention to the obvious-this is something from a product the viewer may have bought and thrown away. What else do we throw away without thinking, that could have another life as something else?

Why do my bottle cap earrings cost more? I spend time designing my bottle cap earrings around a theme; I also pride myself on good craftsmanship. I carefully wash the caps to remove all odors, file holes, and ensure that anything attached to the cap will stay attached. I love what I do, and hope you love it, too!

My love of collage and upcycling carry over into my display and packaging. I make all my earring display cards (see last photo) to compliment the earrings, using upcycled greeting cards, cardboard, magazine pages, and any other paper we have around the house. I also re-use packaging materials when possible, always keeping in mind the goal of your purchase arriving safely.
