This all-original Victorian (or perhaps, Art Nouveau) ladies buckle is an astounding rarity - especially in this condition! With a stunning cherub and floral relief motif, it is the kind of piece that would capture one's attention from across the room! It features the original, simple closing mechanism, and could be worn on a leather belt, velvet sash, or anything in between, using the heavy ring attachments (two on each side) on the reverse. It is stamped on the closing mechanism with "Pat. App'd For" and a hallmark which I cannot make out (as shown in the last photograph). It measures 2 3/4 inches by 2 1/8" inches.

Condition: Very good - only minimal wear to the silver-plating in a few spots on the front, but they are not noticeable unless under very close scrutiny. It is very uncommon to find Victorian items of this size in this condition.
