A map of Portland measuring 17.5"x17.5"

This map of Portland describes the central skeleton of the city, along with the neighborhoods that have grown out of it. The original sketch came from a question many visitors and recent immigrants ask: "What's North Portland?". The longer I lived here, the more it grew to include as many neighborhoods as possible. It will continue to evolve alongside the growth of the city.
Aesthetics and function are a helpful combination.

These prints fit in an Ikea frame, but you'll need your own matting (I suggest getting a mat cut from your local framer)

What's the big idea?

New research indicates that GPS's are hindering our ability to create mental maps of our surroundings. My maps aim to install a "Map from the Mind" for each city, simplifying structures and districts in the simplest terms. The circle, our Universe's softest shape, clearly conveys size and connections.
