Raucous color, iridescent acrylic, painterly mark-making.

This is a gouache study, part of a current body of work I'm developing based around the idea of combining representational and symbolic content to create contemporary pieces that hover between representation and relative abstraction. I'm drawn to the rhetoric of domestic spaces because of their histories of intimacy and desire and power. My imagery's source material comes from high and low. I'm always interested in seeing the juxtaposition between the layers of design influences and the resulting narrative between, say, a thrift store bed frame and a chair I remember from my grandmother's dining room as a child. Most importantly, my paintings are still meant to function as visual pleasure.

This 9" x 12" painting on Bristol will come right to your doorstep matted and framed, although feel free to send me a message requesting unframed pricing.
