For sale is a very unusual clock that has been in my family for 40 years. My great uncle owned it in the 70's, during his days as a swingin' bachelor, and it was the centerpiece of his outrageous living room.

It is a floor length, black plexiglass obelisk with a digital clock housed near the top. The bright numbers shine through a translucent section of the plexi and display the time. Beside it, a kaleidoscopic disc rotates.

It is a 63" tall trapezoidal prism, with a 14x9" footprint, tapering down to to 8.5x3" at the top. It weighs approximately 15 lbs.

The clock unit is manufactured by Tamura Electric Japan. The time is set by turning a wheel at the base of the mechanism. (seen in picture 4)

A short video of the clock's spinning disc in action can be seen here:

-----------

Condition:

It is in excellent condition with the following two flaws:

- The inner layer of the plexi body has a large chip, about 4" long, on the right side where it meets the floor. Thankfully, as it is only the inner layer, it is not visible in normal use.

Since the entire piece is opaque, except for the number area this chip could be made totally invisible by coating the inside with a layer of black paint. The last photo shows this damaged area, as seen from the inside.

- Sometimes, the bottom segment of the last number flickers, or is slightly dimmer than the rest.

Lastly, the surface has minor scuffs, hairline scratches, etc. Basically "normal wear". Apart from these minor issues, it is a phenomenal piece of hypnotic, psychedelic and bizarre retro decor.

Shipping:

Because of the very large size, shipping will be fairly pricey. The stated shipping cost is based on insured, USPS Parcel Post to California. Depending on where you live, it may be cheaper, in which case I will of course, refund any excess costs. Contact me for an exact quote. Estimated costs by area are:

USPS, insured to West Coast - $120
USPS, insured to Chicago, Boston, New York - $100
USPS, insured to Houston, Baltimore, Charlotte, Orlando - $80

And of course, you may pick it up from my place in Miami in person.

One thing to consider. The post office's size constraint will not allow for a box larger70x17x13. This does not leave much room for packing material at the base, where it is the widest. If you prefer, I can use UPS and add additional padding. This would bring shipping cost up to around $200.

My apologies but there can be no international shipping on this item.

Lastly, please allow a couple days for me to get it in the mail, as I will have to build a box to accommodate it and I am recovering from spinal surgery.
