Vintage original kerosene lantern from East Germany - GDR - German Democratic Republic.
This lamp, Bat #158, dates back to the 1950s... it's a collectors item and it's very cool!
On the front is embossed BAT No. 158, on the back is embossed made in GDR... there is also a very cool bat embossed both on the front and on the lid for the kerosene in the back!
This lantern has its original working parts, including the glass and handle. The picture n.3 shows the lantern in the up and down position for lighting the wick.

The manufacturer, Franz Stubgen, began making lamps and other metal items in 1843. The "flying mouse" FLEDERERMAUS trade name was registered in 1892. The BAT name was registered in 1936. In 1942 the company merged to the German concern HASAG and some years after the end of the war the factory was closed by the Russians.

Measurements:
► ~ 6.30" (16 cm.) wide from side to side
► ~ 4.45" (11,3 cm.) wide from back to front
► ~ 11.00" (28 cm.) tall without handle
► ~ 14.95" (38 cm.) tall with the handle
The chimney extends somewhat, and the lantern then is ~ 11.80" (30 cm.) tall, without handle.

Condition:
► in good condition, considering it's age... there are some rust spots, but I will not attempt to clean anything on this lantern.
