We love collecting rare and collectible vintage religious items including pocket shrines from WWI and WWII. We are not sure where this one is from since it is rare that we can find glass ones. I think it is from France. This one has obvious rust on the front of the case, but for me... flaws make it more unusual and unique and I start thinking about all of the places this treasured piece has been. It might be Czech glass. There are not a lot around since they can break easier than the metal ones that we and others sell.

It has a light weight aluminum saint which is most likely not the original and a gold toned light weight metal VIRGIN MARY. Often, the originals are broken up in war time.

A beauty but please look closely at the pictures as this is as is condition and final sale.

The glass is a purple color and in great shape. No cracking. The back has a beautiful pattern as well. The front right peek a boo has a crack in it, but it will not break since it feels like plastic.

A must have...

I read somewhere that this might be from Northern Bohemia, Gablonz cca.
