Hammered Cup or Creamer. What is special about German Silver? Well, there's no silver in it - it is an alloy of nickel, zinc and copper. And it doesn't necessarily come from Germany, they just came up with the alloy. This is a little puzzler - it is just 3 inches tall, quite beautiful in shape. See the third picture for a bit of copper color showing on the bottom. I am wondering if this is hammered copper which was then plated with German silver, as the marks of a hammered piece are everywhere- particularly noticeable on the lip and bottom in a couple of joins. The handle looks to be a separately cast piece which was soldered on. The little fluted bits that come up the side are of irregular heights, it is far from perfectly made and yet as a whole is quite graceful. This Edwardian Style creamer is an impostor, then - I suspect possibly a Middle Eastern origin. A charmer!
