Humble beauty. Minimalist. Sculptural.

Authentic c.1920s-1930s American Folk Art wind directional, whirligig, weathervane. Handmade from wood and retains its first paint in dry matte aluminum, silver grey and dark red. Fine old, untouched patina.

Both top section w/ blades/tail & middle section revolve 360°.

Found in northeast Ohio on a former farm and most likely made on site during the Depression Era, if not earlier. Appears to have once been attached to a frame or stand. Quite possibly was a garden wind directional instead of the barn type.

Stands up fine on table, flat surface though attachment to a base or stand would greatly improve its stability as art object.

approx 11"h (highest pt. of blades) x 11"l; 8.5"h center

Excellent antique condition w/ legitimately worn surfaces but no flaking paint. No breaks, repainting or repairs observed. Middle section of wood has some wobble but still firm attached. Stable wood shrinkage line in base section as shown, commensurate w/ age.

Displays well alone as object d'art, sculpture or in a grouping.
