This is a beautiful chatelaine accessory. A small notebook which slides to the side to open and in it are fine sheets of what appears to be possibly celluloid. They also used to use fine sheets of ivory but I don't believe this to be ivory. Fabulous condition with beautiful patina. A wonderful addition to you're victorian collection.

This piece could also be worn as a pendant and would be beautiful on a long silver chain.

size: 2 inches long by 1 3/4 inches wide approximately.

A bit of history:
Chatelaine is a decorative belt hook or clasp worn at the waist with a series of chains suspended from it. Each chain is mounted with a useful household appendage such as scissors, thimble, watch, key, vinaigrette, household seal, notebooks, etc. Chatelaines were worn by many housekeepers in the 19th century.

All my items are antique or vintage and therefore have had a previous life. Imperfections may exist and I do my best to disclose any that may be there.
Please feel free to ask questions or request more photos before purchasing.
