Master puppeteers from Indonesia use this to illuminate their curtains for shows. A large candle is placed in the center and different angles are created by moving the hinged flaps into different positions. A performance of a Wayang Kulit play is enjoyed by everyone in the village and can last for hours as the puppeteer uses hundreds of leather flat characters he stores in boxes to tell complicated legends. Collected on the island of Bali this artifact appears to be from the 1950's or older. The inside is decorated with a handcarved design and the outer surface is plain wood. It is mounted on a professional stand to hold it in place. It is very heavy in weight and will certainly be an eye catching piece of sculpture in any home.

Open dimensions are 24"w x 24"hx16"d
