This is a sweet little antique collectible dating to the early 1900's. This is a Frozen Charlotte Penny Doll, the story says Frozen Charlotte is a name used to describe a specific form of china doll made from c. 1850 to c. 1920. The name comes from the American folk ballad Fair Charlotte, which tells of a young girl called Charlotte who refused to wrap up warmly to go on a sleigh ride and froze to death during the journey. In the early 1900's the doll cost 1 penny, thus the "Penny Doll". This little doll is a miniature penny doll, measuring 1 1/4" in height. This is a male figure doll in bisque. The doll shows no chips or cracks but does have some natural patina due to age, the doll being 100 years old! This is a precious little collectible, the male figures specifically being not as common as the female figures. This little penny doll would make a welcome addition to any doll collection!

The doll will ship USPS.
