This is an extremely scarce antique strap of primitive sleigh bells from the 19th century. This leather strap has 7 sleigh bells securely riveted to it. Each sleigh bell is marked with a patent number and patent date of May 14, 1878...which is quite uncommon. The bells are made of a cast metal (perhaps brass), which has a lovely darkened patina that can only be obtained with many decades of age such as this. The bells have been left with all of the natural patina they have accumulated over the years, but they could be cleaned/polished should the buyer choose to do so. The bells still ring exuberantly, with a tone that simply cannot be mimicked by today's lower quality sleigh bells. The leather strap does show some significant wear and aging as it is heavily cracked and has been broken and glued back together at one of the ends. Each sleigh bell measures 1-1/8 inches in height and the entire strap measures 15 inches in length. This rustic strap of sleigh bells has tons of vintage character and would be incredible for display.

The sleigh bells will ship secured via USPS Priority Mail due to weight.
