These are such simple, understated and beautiful real jet beads. They come from an estate of a German lady who died in 1916.

Jet is fossilized wood and is considered a rare collector's item. Real jet is hard to find. (Most of the 'jet' that's around is actually French Jet, which is glass. There are lots of other jet imitators out there but this is the real thing.) When you've held real jet in your hand, you can understand why it's so desirable. It's really quite a unique material. It is also known as 'black amber'.

The size of these beads are approximately: Diameter (from hole to hole): 3mm the larger ones and 2 mm the smaller ones (these are like seed beads). I'm sorry but these were very hard to measure so I hope this is accurate enough.

I counted at least 33 of the larger beads and even more of the smaller ones.

I know that the amazing jewelry designers out there will have their own ideas about what to do with these.

Please have a look at the other antique beads available in the store.

These beautiful beads will be rushed to you from Berlin, well packaged, with tracking number.
