Vintage 7" Lighted Glass Globe - Scarce unusal size for lighted globe!

This is an 812 E Illuminated globe by the George Cram Co. 1949. It is a 7" orb and the Natural Scale 1:69,379,200 1095 Statute Miles = One Inch. Spellings conform to official rulings of United States Geographic Board and Royal Geographical Society... No. 812E.

The globe is comprised of coated paper gores hand applied over a 7" glass orb which is lighted from within along with a time dial at the north pole. The oceans are finished in avocado green with Equinoctial Colure/International Date Line, tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and analemma. The mount features no meridian and the globe is offset mounted from bulb socket. It sits on a round stepped tan metal base and carries the light blue stripe line that is so common to the early Crams globes.

Dated using the following: Indo China no longer French, shows Pakistan and Israel.

The condition of this globe is excellent! The colors show no fading, there is very minimal wear in the form of mild soiling and no missing map at all!! The base is also excellent with only minial wear! This is a very unusual size for an illuminated globe and this particular model is extremely hard to come by. One in this condition is virtually unheard of!!

Because of it's unique size this globe would look great wherever it was displayed and should not be passed up.
