Creative Playthings Giant MagnifierTable. 1970s. Works Great!
Made in Princeton, New Jersey.
I found a newspaper ad for this, from Nov of 1974. The original price was $9.95.

Very cool mid century wooden toy. Great condition, with a fun atomic shape. I have oiled the wood, and dusted the glass. Very nice quality. There is a tiny (about one inch) bit of the wood trim, which is on the inside diameter of the lens, which fell out. It is not part of the structure, but wanted to mention it. You can see this in photo #3.

The mid century parent offered educational playthings to their children, as a way to promote creativity as a value. The faith in creativity fostered a belief that society would benefit from a creative person; as well as offering a personal edge to the child for competitive purposes.

Aside from all of that, this is a FUN TOY!
Still relevant today for watching bugs, examining rocks, flowers, seeds, what have you.
The child is to sit on the floor, with legs tucked underneath the table, then hold an item and mangify. Very easy, but so much more fun than watching telly.
I wouldn't recommend sitting on the stool, but it may have been designed to hold a certain weight (would require a bit more research to confirm that).

Glass lens, which must be stored out of direct sunlight. The triangular shape measures about 11.5" across, by 11.5" tall. There are 3 legs, which screw on. This will fit in a Priorty Mail Flat Rate Medium Box, so you will save on shipping costs. Simply screw the 3 legs into place when it arrives.

I believe the wood is beech, but am not 100% sure.
