Microbe cross stitch -- completed sea green and dark green cyst-form Entamoeba Histolytica cross stitch in 3" round embroidery hoop

---The Story---

GERMS! They're everywhere. You can't avoid them, not entirely -- so why not incorporate them into your decor?

If you're into science, or just germs, or cleanliness, or if you're a hypochondriac, you might like to see your interests/worst fears immortalized in stitchwork. Luckily, now you can.

This series of microbes started out as an awesome custom order birthday present, but I had so much fun stitching them, I had to continue! Now every room in my home has its own color-coordinated microbe. Believe it or not, they're warm yet classy as additions to my otherwise not-very-scientific melange of vintage wall art.

This listing is for one seafoam green E. Histolytica cyst. E. Histolytica as an infection is some nasty business -- causing liver abcesses and some serious digestive system issues -- but most of the infections previously diagnosed as E. Histolytica were actually something else. (Phew!)*

When I first saw a photo of this microbial cyst, I knew I had to stitch it -- it reminds me of Munch's Scream. :D

---The Deets---

E. Histolytica is part of a series of microbe and germ cross stitches that will feature a variety of brightly-colored microscopic viruses/bacteria/etc each stitched on antique white colored Aida cloth and framed in 3" natural wood hoop frames. Find more in the Microbes and Germs section of my shop, linked below.

The other three microbes pictured above are rabies and the common cold (fourth picture) and E. Coli and the flu along with mange (fifth picture).

The back of each germ or microbe will be protected by loose felt that clings to the back; the felt will not be glued to the hoop, in order to allow for easier cleaning and re-stretching should that become necessary.

*CUSTOMIZE: If you would like three or more microbes, look for a special listing in the Microbes section of my shop, or convo me to request a special order. Multiple orders will receive a small discount.

Feel free to also request a microbe of your choice by convo'ing me ("contact seller" at the bottom of this listing). I would love to stitch it for you!

*SHIP: This stitch will be made to order and sent via USPS first class (with delivery confirmation) or international first class mail within 7 days of your order, usually sooner, unless I convo you otherwise or a delay is announced in my shop policies or shop announcement (under the banner).

*GIFT WRAP: Let me know if you are giving E. Histolytica as a gift (lol), and I'll wrap it up in plain paper and include a stitched card for your "to" and "from" -- or tell me if you'd like me to send it directly to the recipient and what message you'd like to include, and I'll write it out for you before I pop it in the mail.

---The Legal Stuff---

Microbes are not my intellectual property, obviously, but the cross stitch designs are copyright Alicia Watkins 2012. Please do not copy or distribute without permission, and please do not pin images without permission. (Convo me!) If you're interested in the patterns for this or other germs, convo me, and I'll put them at the top of the queue for digitizing!

Also, I am no kind of medical expert, and anything I know about the microbes in this series of stitches or that I appear to know, I learned from the internet. : ) NO PART of my listings or any other ramblings should be construed as ANY KIND of medical advice, because it's not. My only relevant expertise is in cross stitching!
