Two antique Medalta Potteries stoneware crocks with lids. Half gallon, quarter gallon size dating to the late 1940s. Iconic Canadiana, farmhouse kitchen pickling crocks.

Beautiful pottery crocks from Redcliff Alberta Canada in hard to find sizes. Medalta produced unique stoneware goods from 1915 to 1954, and the originals have come to be collected the world over. These are genuine mid century crocks, meant for pickling, sauerkraut and other other classic food storage, and are not modern reproductions. They're in excellent shape.

The 1/4 gallon crock measures 5.5" tall, the 1/2 gallon one about 7" in height, not including the lids. They are near perfect, with just the natural differences in the glaze and surface original to these pieces. The 1/4 gallon crock has a small chip on the bottom side (which may be as old as the pot itself), but there are no hairline fractures as one often finds on older stoneware. The lid on the 1/2 gall crock, as you can see in photo 5 especially, has a redder tone. It's possible that the lids were acquired separately, but variations in the color are normal, and it is the right lid for the pot: the lids have a 1/2 and a 1/4 carved on the knobs.

These are heavy, but will be shipped very well wrapped to arrive safely.
