This beautiful and unique hand painted clay dove is from Antigua, Guatemala and purchased in 1967. With over 600 species of birds in Guatemala, the local artisans have many choices to mirror their art pieces. This tiny bird was individually wrapped in tissue paper and carefully nestled within a soft cotton filled pad. It was then stored in an air tight tin during the last 44 years. This colorful bird can be hung as an ornament via the tiny wire ring embedded in it's back. The bird measures 2.5" long and 1.5" tall at it's beak.

Buyers, please note: Although we are not an art dealer, exporter or a collector, our un-train eye notices no blemishes, such as chips, scratches or peeling of the artisan's handiwork. We do note that there is a little rust in the wire ring as the artisans of that small village did not have access to sterling silver. Because of the age of this piece, it's paint may have loss some of it's shiny luster, but who doesn't after 45 years? This piece is very delicate and must be handled with extreme care.
