An antique tinplated bowl, handmade with solid hammered copper. This style of bowls were mostly made for heating cooked food over stove tops. Apparently, this one was designed also to serve food, as it unusually has a very short round foot at the base. The bowl displays a very tiny stamp near the center of the bottom that looks like Arabic lettering (last photo).

It weighs 8.8 oz (260 gr) and measures 1.4 inches tall (3.5 cm).
The top and the base part have diameters of 9.6'' / 4.5'' (24.5 / 11 cm).

The tinplating has mostly worn off to reveal different shades of grey and the reddish brown of copper (on the bottom and the rim). There are many so many surface scratches and chips. Dark spots need a cleaning and polishing would make it shiny as it once was. I think the foot at the bottom was welded to the body because the two are very firmly connected. The rim has minor dents. There are no tears, cracks or holes and the bowl did not leak when I tested it with water.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I can take and upload photos from different angles if you like.
