These subtly colored upcycled tin earrings are from the Landscape collection of my Turkoman Goes Modern series. The delicate printed pattern of leaves hanging over a gently moving stream made me think of a romantic gondola ride on a Venetian canal. A rippled pattern has been scribed into the tin to mimic the current of the water. The printed tin pieces hang from vintage metal Turkoman stampings that feature delicate four petaled flowers. The rippled current pattern along with the Turkoman stampings have been oxidized for an aged effect. The stampings have been lightly sanded to highlight the design in the metal. Hand buffed microcrystaline wax preserves the patina of both.
These earrings have lovely movement when worn due to the connection used between the tin and the vintage stamping. Due to their light weight, they are comfortable to wear for hours. The earrings are 2" long from the bottom of the tin to the top of the niobium earwires. Niobium is a pure alloy that can be worn by those with sensitive ears. It also matches the color of the oxidized metal perfectly!
