Here is Frida Kahlo. She is now behind thick clear vinyl, so that the printed image
on the mesh bag does not rub off or fade. She is shiny because we have covered her
with the clear vinyl which is on your grandmother's upholstered furniture.
The pocket is the Virgin of Guadalupe, someone you may have seen around Mexico, or
in church, or possibly Brooklyn.

It's the mesh Frida (3 color print) with the clear vinyl over the mesh to make the
backpack last longer and keep the image from fading..
You can see how the shiny interferes with taking a good picture.
The pocket is a deep blue, and the surround leather is a sparkly orange leather.
Maybe we'll try to take some more pictures.

We are still using the black poly/canvas for the back and lower sides;
and striped shopping bag mesh for the the upper sides and top. It's mesh.
These have always been a hit, and they have continued to carry us here on Etsy.
(until.. er... they messed with their search engine...)
Silver leather stripes, fancy stitching on them, and fancy stitching on the padded back.

We make Backpacks from heavy mesh Mexican Carry-all Bags, with images printed on them.
They can carry, in their original form, about 60 pounds. Usually they last for years.
They aren't made here, and are seldom seen north of the border.
We take these bags and cut them up and sew them into backpacks. Which NO ONE
else makes (because they would be crazy because it's too labor-intensive)...
and people tell us that we should have them all over the world, in shops.
And air should be free, at the gas station.

When you buy something really cool for cheap, and it has a lot of pockets or rivets or
hardware, then it was made overseas by someone who is poor.
Why not buy from someone locally who is poor instead? This way it is easier to walk down the
block and demand that they replace a defective zipper. Unless they are
so poor that they ate their hands, or something. Fortunately, we are doing
JUST GREAT. Got that? Oh, and we've found a new source for these Mexican
Folklore shopping bags, right here in LA, so we can go back to making more of these
backpacks. Horray!

Backpack Features:
-The bottom is a recycled woven fabric.. and it is lined with groovy tie-dye fabric. The back is red poly-canvas with cheerful stitching, and a silver leather shoulder piece.

-The backpacks measure approximately 12"wide by 16"tall and 4"deep. The front pocket is 6"by 9" with a metal zipper. The straps are made from leather. Two different shopping bags were cut up to create the design. There are side leather pockets for cell phone, i-pod, etc. Main zip is YKK #8 coil nylon zipper, a tough zipper. And again, the thick clear poly-vinyl covering it makes for a
backpack which will not shred or disintegrate.

-Straps are ADJUSTABLE. They are
brown leather with marigold nylon strapping with buckle-tightener things.
The leather is all remnants, from the local supplier, but I buy only the good stuff.

Ships USPS flat rate Priority Mail ($10)... it's the only way we can do a tracking number....

International Shipping is USPS First Class, and it's not terribly fast... but
shipping to the UK for example will cost about $19.

(DHL, UPS, FedEx are all hugely expensive so we don't even bother..)
