So simple yet elegant. You won't see another one like this. Cocktail length "New Look" from Paris. Shown unpressed here so as to minimize further handling. Worn first in 1955 and then in 1999!

A remarkable fabric of a light ivory with subtle texture, wonderful drape and a softest satin shine (fine cotton muslin?). Fully lined. Sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice with lovely detailing across bust, decorative buttons along side, and dropped gathered waist. Full below knee skirt. Was modified for second wear (expanded waist) by an expert tailor who also made a careful small pleat in skirt to hide a spot.. Was cleaned promptly and stored archivally. Will be shipped wrapped in acid free paper.

S to XS : waist: 25 in., bust: 34-35 in., length: 30 in. from natural waist, (28 1/2 in. from last button). A small snag near hem is barely visible (see last photo). Some mild light brown age spotting inside on lining not visible on the outside, two tiny light-brown spots on back (one near zipper and one on skirt) also barely visible

After professional pressing to smooth out the drape at bust and make skirt crisp and full, this vintage dress is eager for a special event. Perhaps a debutante dance?
