A phrase from the days of the Raj describes the pith-helmeted man whose likeness is caught in resin here. "Pukka sahib ( /ˈpʌkə ˈsɑː.ɪb/ or /ˈsɑːb/)[1] was a slang term taken from Hindi words for "Absolute" ("first class", "absolutely genuine" for English users) and "master", but meaning "true gentleman" or "excellent fellow". Used in the British Empire to describe Europeans; more usually to describe an attitude which British administrators affected, that of an "aloof, impartial, incorruptible arbiter of the political fate of a large part of the earth's surface." Antique text and portrait from a turn of the century encyclopedia have been inlaid in resin in a found bottle cap, captured in steel wire and suspended from an old button stitched to a neck band of beautiful sari silk. Embellished with vintage Swarovski rose monte rhnestones and sparkling crystal drop. Very romantic and quite dramatic for a deep neckline. Adjustable length. Available at a reduced price this summer.
