ON SALE I wish I had somewhere to wear this gorgeous piece of history! But alas, I am selling it so that it can be worn rather than sit in my closet.

Real Victorian turn of the century blouse or jacket probably from the 1880s to 1900. Sits high on natural waist or very long bolero depending on shoulders or bust size. Crochet Lace is in amazing condition without any breaks or tears to note. Thick creamy thread used to create amazing intricate and TINY patterns of Rosettes, stars, mesh and circle clusters. The sleeves also have a dainty trim of black and light pink in a Greek Fret or Key pattern with acanthus leaves possibly. The lace in the back comes together in a "V" pattern that is very flattering despite the somewhat boxy shape.

Lace lays on top of a sheer layer on silk and then connected to a layer of light cotton in the body. Sleeves have no lining. Has two rows of hook and eyes closures to close cotton lining and the lace. Looks great with a high black skirt or even dressed down for today's trends. The cotton lining appears to have some numbers stamped into the fabric and a name penciled on the other side. Possibly "manufactured" but back then it was still mostly hand-made manufacturing.

MEASUREMENTS: Size Small - Modern 2-4 approx

Neck: 15.5"
Bust: 32-34"
Underbust: 30"
Waist: 29-30"
Sleeves: 17" circumference at shoulder, 7" at cuff

Good Vintage condition: The lace has some small age spots that are a darker cream light orange color. These are not very noticeable due to the busy lace pattern. No large offensive stains. The silk layer is in fair condition throughout with only minor holes not visible from outside. The cotton has same slight age spots but is in good condition with no tears. The hook and eye closures have probably been replaced but there is a slight greenish tint to a few spots where the old ones oxidized. I would consider giving it a very delicate soak to remove some of the age stains or just wearing it as it is.
