Vintage Globe 1926 Weber Costello Desk Globe - Rare Base

This great little globe is a Peerless 6 inch Terrestrial desk globe by Weber Costello Co. C1926.

The globe is comprised of dull paper gores over bakelite and carries a simplified map and no time dial. The oceans are finished in a robins egg blue, with Ecliptic, Equinoctial Colure, and analemma.

The globe is set in a walnut finish wood stand with turned round base and two pencil grooves and has a cast bronze full ring meridian. Truly designed to be an executives desk globe!

The simplified map is rich in color and crisp in details. Diameter of the orb is 6 inches and a total width (including meridian) of 8.5 inches. This lovely piece stands 9 inches tall.

The political borders hint a dawn to a new era, the calm before the storm of WW2. Central Australia is documented (1926-31). Leningrad displayed, Manchuria independent and Japanese control is shown as Chosen.

The condition of this gem is nothing short of amazing! The globe shows very minimal wear and minimal soiling. The equator tape is fully intact and the globe carries a lovely patina! The base is also incredible with minimal wear and virtually no fading, scratching or mars of any kind!! The brass meridian has the most even and beautiful patina!!

This little gem would be the jewel in any collection and due to the great size can be displayed anywhere!!

Altogether a great piece of history and one you want to take home!!!

As Always, ENJOY!!!
