This listing is for a 3-D paper cutting of Dracula’s Castle in a black 12 X 12 shadow box frame. This listing is for the original paper cutting, not a print. I created this using thousands of tiny pieces of colored and textured cardstock that have been hand cut with an x-acto knife, layered and shaped to create the 3-D aspect of this piece.

This castle features three rounded towers, two lookout towers and a lot of miniature details. I used Bran Castle as a basic model for the design but took liberties with how it was built as well as with the colors of the castle. It is a very detailed paper cutting that took many months to create! My camera does its best to capture all the details but my artwork always looks better in person.

For the castle I used a textured Smoky Green card stock for the main color behind the bricks as well as for the top trim on some of the roofs. The hundreds of “stone” bricks cover the entire castle and are made of a double layer of heavily textured Posh Gray Crepe card stock that has been hand cut to measure only 1mm by 3mm for each brick. Every brick was then painstakingly placed on the castle one by one. The heavy texture of the crepe card stock gives these bricks a wonderfully realistic stone look even though they are made of paper.

For the shingles on the roof I used a Cappuccino Brown textured card stock. Each shingle has been hand cut into a rounded design.

For the wood trim on the castle I used a Glowing Makassar Wood Grain card stock. This card stock is a beautiful rich color and actually has wood grain embossed on it so that it looks like wood.

There are 56 tiny windows in the castle. I used pieces of thermo acetate layered behind the castle to give them a realistic glass look as well as some tiny pieces of the wood card stock for some of the window frames.

The “iron” gate on the castle door was created using a Slate Gray smooth card stock

To make the cliff I used a heavily textured Posh Cocoa Crepe card stock. Unlike the castle, which is made of a lot of tiny pieces, the cliff is a single piece of card stock that has been sculpted to give it the shape of a cliff. I used forest green fine model train turf for the moss on the cliff and the castle walls.

The castle measures a little under 8 ½ inches across by about 6 ¾ inches high. The cliff measures about 10 ¾ inches wide by about 2 ½ inches high. The shadow box is a 1 1/2 inch deep frame.

The castle and cliff have been mounted on a black textured card stock inside a high quality 12X12 black wooden shadow box frame and comes ready to display.

This is a special and one of a kind paper cutting and I will not be creating another of the same design. This paper cutting has been signed and dated by me for authenticity. The card stock that I use is acid and lignin free.
