Pippi Longstocking, the world’s favorite troublemaker! Now available as a PDF embroidery pattern!

“Way out at the end of a tiny little town was an old overgrown garden, and in the garden was an old house, and in the house lived Pippi Longstocking. She was nine years old, and she lived there all alone.”

(‘Pippi Longstocking’, by Astrid Lindgren - Chapter 1)

Here is Pippi in all her glory: her hair the color of a carrot, wearing black and brown mis-matched stockings, ridiculously oversized shoes, and in a dress she made herself. “She had meant it to be blue, but there wasn’t quite enough blue cloth, so Pippi had sewed little red patches on it here and there.” Pippi’s pet monkey, Mr. Nilsson, and her horse (who lives on the porch) keep her company at Villa Villekulla, along with her friends Tommy and Annika, sitting up in the great big tree. Our Pippi Longstocking embroidery pattern is packed with details from Astrid Lindgren’s beloved children’s story; Pippi fans will have a great time remembering the story’s best moments as they stitch!

We chose to applique Pippi’s dress with scraps of quilting fabric, using a very simple applique technique. Template shapes for Pippi’s dress and simple applique instructions are included in this pattern.

Your pattern will be available to download immediately as a PDF file with four pages; one with template shapes and instructions to applique Pippi’s dress, one of the pattern as shown, and one of its reverse, so it will be easy for you to transfer by whatever method you prefer. This pattern also includes a full color and stitch guide, including a key with thread types and color numbers.

The pattern is laid out on one A4 sheet and is designed to be stitched about 7.75” wide and 10” tall.
